Note: Any CSCC ENGL courses that do not meet specific EGS requirements will count as elective credits except for ENGL 1100. A student may not double-count a course in two areas of EGS requirements - for example, a student completing ENGL 2567 may not have the course count for both the Studies in Writing and Multicultural Perspectives requirements.
Students completing the Associate of Arts in English at Columbus State Community College earn between 61-65 credit hours that transfer to Miami University. Students completing the Ohio Transfer Module at Columbus State Community College through their General Education credits will have completed Miami Plan Foundation I, II, III, IV, V, and the Miami Plan Thematic Sequence. Advanced Writing Requirement met through multiple course options in English Studies major.
At Miami University, transfer students who complete the Ohio Transfer Module will still need to complete: Intercultural Perspectives (3 credits), Experiential Learning (o credits), and Capstone (3 credits). These credits can be earned through completion of the major in English Studies. They will need to complete a total of 59-63 hours to reach the 124 required for the BA depending on what they have earned at Columbus State Community College.
Table 3 shows how a student completes the English Studies major having completed 15-18 of the required 36 credit hours through their coursework at Columbus State Community College. The table is merely a guide; student choices while at Columbus State Community College may require changes to how the student completes the degree at Miami University.
